Family PARAKALUMMATIDAE Grandjean, 1936

Introduction

The family Parakalummatidae includes six genera and 47 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). The family is cosmopolitan in forest litter, rotting wood and bracket fungi (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The Australian fauna includes a single genus and two endemic species, as well as some records of unidentified species, all in the genus Neoribates. The Australian specimens were collected in variety of habitats including Eucalyptus litter, rainforest litter, moss, soil, and rotting wood. The family name Parakalummidae Grandjean, 1936 was emended to Parakalummatidae by Pérez-Iñigo (1993), for reasons that are explained by Colloff & Halliday (1998).
