Shark Bay, WA (25°20'S) to east of Ashmore Reef, Timor Sea (12°17'S, 124°02'E), and southwest of Murray Island, QLD (10°19'S, 143°45'E) to off Angourie, NSW (29°30'S, 153°33'E), possibly continuous across northern Australia; tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific.
