   Holotype CAS(SU) 7133, Yilan (as Giran), Taiwan.
  Paratype(s) CAS(SU) 67143
  Comment: Lectotype designation by Pietsch & Zabetian 1990, but designation not needed as Jordan and Evermann 1902 established the type on p. 334, two specimens mentioned, but only one listed as Type.

 

Introduction

Records of this species from Australia were excluded from Australia by Hoese & Bray (2006) based on advice from B. Collette, who suggested the species was probably undescribed. However, the name is in wide usage for a species in Australia and is tentatively retained here pending further studies. Randall & Ida (2014) recognised the species as being widespread in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
