• Calliaster spinosus Clark, H.L. 1916. I. Report on the sea-lilies, starfishes, brittle-stars and sea-urchins obtained by the F.I.S. Endeavour on the coasts of Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. Endeavour Research 4(1): 1-123 figs 1-11 pls 1-44 [44, pl. 11(1-2)].

  Type data:

   Holotype AM E4682, eastern slope, Bass Strait.

 

Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy

• Mah, C.L. 2018. New genera, species and occurrence records of Goniasteridae (Asteroidea; Echinodermata) from the Indian Ocean. Zootaxa 4539(1): 1–116 [63] (Milteliphaster spinosus, (H.L. Clark, 1916) is misplaced and is retained in genus Calliaster as mentioned in (Mah, 2018).)
