Family INCURVARIIDAE

Compiler and date details

28 June 2007 - E.D. (Ted) Edwards, CSIRO Entomology, Canberra, Australia

Introduction

This family reaches its greatest diversity in Australia with more than 100 species in five genera. Most of the named species were described by Meyrick (1893). Many species were reared from larvae during a study of the genus Perthida Common (Common 1969b{}), and subsequent study confirms that five genera occur in Australia. Of these only Perthida has been named but three of the four unnamed genera contain named species.

Species of Perthida are important pests of jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) and other Eucalyptus species (Wallace 1970; Mazanec 1983, 1989).
