- Gryllotalpidae Leach, 1815.
Introduction
Characterised by cylindrical appearance and the shovel-like front legs. The head is horizontal and much narrower than the pronotum and pointed. Species are subterranean and sing during wet periods or just prior to rains. Both sexes can stridulate. Some species of economic concern.
