Introduction

This unusual, and immediately identifiable, endemic membracid is most common in the rainforests of Queensland although it extends as far south as the Australian Capital Territory. The shape of the single dorsal projection on the pronotum is highly variable and Day (1999) has suggested that this requires research to determine if more than one species is represented in the fauna. There are plenty of available names which may be applicable for cryptic species if they are found to exist.
