Introduction
In a conference poster presentation to the Joint Congress of ASL & NZLS, at Deakin University, Warrnambool, Vic, 1–5 December 2003, D. Berner presented findings from her studies on Australian Ceriodaphnia. From examination of collections from across the continent, she concluded that what has been recognised in Australia as C. quadrangula includes several distinct species. She recommended reinstating C. spinata and C. planifrons as distinct species, with C. hakea a junior synonym of the latter. She also concluded that the Holarctic species C. quadrangula should be excluded from Australia. Unfortunately these changes have never been formalised.
