Holotype ZMB 1680 skin & skull, SE Australia (as Neuholland); the type locality is identified by Mahoney, J.A. in Walton (1988: 155), as southeastern Aust. on the basis of what is known about the distribution of H. albipes since European settlement of Australia in 1788.
