Introduction
The family Carthaeidae was established by Common (1966b) for a single species from southern Western Australia. The biology of the species was described by Common (1966b) and additional foodplants were given by McFarland (1979). No further species has been added subsequently and no undescribed species is known.
The larvae feed on Dryandra and Banksia, both Proteaceae.
