Family CALOPPIIDAE Balogh, 1960

Introduction

The family Caloppiidae includes nine genera and 33 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). The family is most diverse in the Oriental Region, but also occurs in Africa, South America, and the Pacific islands (data from Subias 2011). The family is known from Australia only on the basis of unidentified species of Brassiella, as reported from an unknown locality by Balogh & Balogh (1984) and by Walter (1999) from leaves of a rainforest tree in Queensland.
