Bindahara phocides phocides (Fabricius, 1793)

Hesperia phocides Fabricius, J.C. 1793. Entomologia Systematica Emendata et Aucta secundum classes, ordines, genera, species, adjectis synonimis [sic], locis, observationibus, descriptionibus. Hafniae : Impensis C. G. Proft, Fil et Soc. [butterfly section] Vol. 3(1) iv 488 pp. [282].
Type data: holotype BMNH *; Fabricius in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described; described from the Banks collection; Zimsen, E. 1964. The Type Material of I.C. Fabricius. Copenhagen : Munksgaard 656 pp. [562] (listed a single female in the Banks collection and this is accepted as evidence for a holotype); Watkins, H.T.G. 1923. Notes on the butterflies of the Banks Collection. Entomologist 56: 204–209 [207] (referred to a type); Corbet, A.S. 1941. Observations on certain of the Fabrician names of Indo-Australian Rhopalocera (Lepid.). Proceedings of the Royal Entomological Society of London B 10(6): 98–106 [102] (referred to a type); Parsons, M.J. 1998. The Butterflies of Papua New Guinea; their systematics and biology. San Diego : Academic Press 736 pp. [411] referred to a holotype).
Type locality: Africa (in original description, clearly erroneous), see Watkins, H.T.G. 1923. Notes on the butterflies of the Banks Collection. Entomologist 56: 204–209 [207] (discussed the type locality suggesting that Borneo was the most likely); Corbet, A.S. 1941. Observations on certain of the Fabrician names of Indo-Australian Rhopalocera (Lepid.). Proceedings of the Royal Entomological Society of London B 10(6): 98–106 [102] (discussed the type locality, recommended that Pulau Salang should be considered as the type locality).
