Genus Belonalys Kröber, 1912
- Belonalys Kröber, O. 1912. Die Thereviden der indoaustralischen Region. (Dipt). Entomologische Mitteilungen. Berlin-Dahlem 1: 116-125 [117 (key), 124 (description)].
Type species:
Belonalys obscura Kröber, 1912 by monotypy.
Introduction
Belonalys is a highly autapomorphic genus, containing two species, closely related to Laxotela. Both genera share an open wing cell m3, thickened base of the spermathecal sac duct and various male genitalic characters. The reticulated outer lobes of the spermathecal sac are also found in some species of Laxotela and Agapophytus. Belonalys obscura is distributed throughout south-eastern New South Wales, whereas Bel. occulta is known only from Tasmania (Winterton et al. 2001).
