The Australian Plant Name Index (APNI) is a tool for the botanical community that deals with plant names and their usage in the scientific literature, whether as a current name or synonym. APNI does not recommend any particular taxonomy or nomenclature. Etymology:"Named for Keith A.W. Williams of Ipswich, Queensland. Keith is a keen naturalist and has made a significant contribution to botanical knowledge in Queensland via his collection of plant specimens (lodged at BRI) from all over the state. Since 1979 three volumes of his monumental 'Native Plants of Queensland' have been published and a fourth is in press."
