- Tripterygion rufopileum Waite, E.R. 1904. Additions to the fish-fauna of Lord Howe Island. No. 4. Records of the Australian Museum 5(3): 135-186 fig. 32 pls 17-24 [182, pl. 24(4)] [the name has consistently been treated as an adjective, but is probably a noun derived from the Latin rufus = red and pileus = beret, referring to the red on the occiput].
