Species Karrama punctata (Lallemand, 1935)

Compiler and date details

24 March 2011 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This species is unknown to the compiler. Medler (1988) provides illustrations of the male genitalia from Marrakai in the Northern Territory. Medler (1988) discusses the status of the paralectotypes. Lallemand (1935) cited 7 specimens but Medler (1988) found 3 ♂, 3 ♀ in the Basel Museum, one of which he designated as lectotype, and an additional 3 ♂, 2 ♀ with identical labels in Brussels. Medler (1988) states "It appears that Lallemand first attached his determination label as Colgar peracuta but later changed his mind and named the specimens as a variety of Colgar laraticus, neglecting to attach punctata labels on the specimens." What is more likely, is that the five specimens in Brussels are the five specimens listed at the bottom of page 663 of Lallemand (1935) as "Colgar peracutus Walk. Australie N.: Marrakai, mai 31. 5 ex."
